Congratulations to Morgan Crowser for being Selected to All-State Band for 2014 

 

In Canby students begin playing an instrument in the spring of 4th grade.  In the elementary school the bands are split up by grades 5 and 6.  When students reach junior high they play in a combined 7th and 8th grade ensemble in the spring the junior high students also perform in our own junior solos contest.  Upon reaching high school Canby students have the opportunity to participate in concert band, marching band, pep band as well as performing in solo and ensemble contest. 

 

Students grades 6-10 have the opportunity to nominated and selected for the SWMBDA Honor Band held in Marshall.  This year we have 11 students that will be participating in the Honor Bands.  Musicians in grades 10-12 can be nominated for Augustana Band Festival, held the second week in November each year.  This year 5 students participated in the festival.  

 

This school year 2012-2013 the Canby Band program saw the addition of a Trombone choir that will performing at two of our concerts this year.
